description
Lever Burns [ ____-_ ] is a --no-camera&&--no-audio environment` [we-txt--&--terminal] for workshops / conversation sessions re:autonomous_practices`` for individuals and collectives ][ art <-------------------------------------------------> cultural production ][
session space consists of the terminal [in a browser] and a pad. commands and scripts are executed on the terminal, participants follow along on their own laptop terminals and we debug together on a session pad.
¬ ` an introverted interface affording particular kind of socializing
[][ acknowledging that not everyone is comfortable with cameras; besides, participants can follow at their own pace and it's more welcoming for people whose native language is not English
¬ `` to me, autonomy in this case is not about being an isolated entity, but rather the means to connect [--to-for-by-with] on my own terms and offer the tools others would find helpful.
¬ ``` only open when i run the python script on my server
[][ not every service has to be available 24/7 by default
¬ ```` this terminal is not a mere simulation, but an actual terminal with an access to my web server
[][ this entails intense intimacy and extreme vulnerability when the session is running, but at the same time the session URLs are unique and only available to limited participants.
technical sessions involve self-hosting and tweaking the open-source applications, making our own tools/scripts, and taking care of our infrastructures. i'm extensively focusing on sysadmin work to draw attention to the fact that there are people and infrastructures behind the services and slick interfaces.
a session documentation is available in several forms:
_ _ a manual on a Mediawiki instance[TBD] -- this is the most up-to-date instruction for a particular setup
_ _ a session pad -- too see the session flow
_ _ a terminal session .log file -- to view the commands in their natural habitat [terminal]
