project : Human Interference
Human Interference
description
The Human Interference Project is part of the Métamatic Research Initiative. For this project we are creating a collection of hand-drawn mathematical figures governed by a simple set of rules. The repetitive and parameter-restricted character of the drawings might seem better suited to machine production. Drawing these figures by hand, though, emphasises the human creative expression. The drawings created in this way produce surprising interference patterns. We invited artists from all over the world to create such a drawing. All drawings that have been sent to us are displayed on this website. The Human Interference Project forms the basis for the new MRI website, online by May 2011. This new website will be a communal platform for all material around the artistic and academic research into Tinguely’s Métamatics.
